This program teaches useful skills through “arts and crafts” activities - machine & hand sewing, simple electrical wiring & lamp construction.
These skills are rarely taught any more and are traditionally relegated to gender specific categories. Our society no longer believes they are important (just throw it away and get a new one).
This session will give the students the skills to be a more self reliant adult as well as open their eyes to their own abilities.

Using all sorts of found objects, tableware, pictures frames, pipes, old clothes, etc to create some kind of art. Whether it becomes figurative or abstract, useful or just visually interesting, this class gives students a chance to explore what art is and discover their own interpretation of what it can be.
